Physical Therapy Workout and Surgeon Appt.

I went to see the surgeon today and he said that the tear of my meniscus wasn't too bad. He said that the wounds look really good. He also said that I have arthritis in my knee and since I am an ultrarunner he doesn't know what advice to give me except to take a break when things hurt. To be able to run again he said that I need to walk 2 miles at a brisk pace (15min./miles about)and not hurt same day or next day:) I have now hopped on the stationary bike and it feels great. I have lost 4 pounds in a week and am planning on 10 -15 more to lose. I am feeling good. I have made a video of my workout, not the whole thing continiously but a brief video showing what I am doing. I also do crunches and pushups, which are not in the video. By the way, the Dr. also said that my ACL was fine and my IT band would naturally be a little sore because they had to bend my knee to the side to scope me. Also, my meniscus is pretty thin:( Anyway talk story later. Jah Bless.

Devon,

You can do a good 100 averaging no less than 17 minute miles. You can walk a 100 easy. I have damn near done all my 100's at a walking pace. Though I have to admit that I have to catch up some times when I loose concentration.

The point is that you don't need to think about running for a long time. You can still get back into the game, but you will just be competing with the rest of the cripples and old men. --We are better company anyway. Fast people are genetically endowed with speed, but I think the marker also contributes to a monotone state of mind. Running with them can lead to terminal dullness.

Glad to hear that your knee is healing well and that you are working out. Aloha, Mike
